Aqueduct at the origin, the Pont du Gard bridge had become when the engineer Pitot flanked the work of a true bridge which connected the two banks in 1748 Gardon. So far, we only find the history of this monument in books. ! And the history of the aqueduct, which has served more to bring water from the early sixth century, at the end of the Roman Empire, remained mostly an enigma in the minds of these visitors. The only interest until the day was clear that such remnant had no violations, crossed the centuries and flooding of the Gardon. Included since 1840 in the first rank of French historical monuments made by Prosper Merimee, the bridge was listed by UNESCO as World Heritage in 1985..

Resulting today in a place where edutainment, through paths wisely managed, nature has returned to scrub and clean the banks of the Gardon… Scenography Two spaces now house visitors right bank and left bank, where after the first excitement of discovery, the output of a grove, the bridge, the visitor enters his story and that of its territory. On the right bank, the building was built in an old quarry. Inside the hall of the Baume, where Guy Francis George has designed a setting for a show in three dimensions using the techniques of theater combining optical audio-visual tools. 220 spectators, sitting like a circus on the stands are completely immersed for 20 minutes in a metaphorical transposition of the history of the Pont du Gard and its surroundings, from beginning to the present days.

This time with a fictional 20-minute film directed by Robert Pansard-Besson. Two characters, Mary and Marco, tell the meeting of Nimes with Rome through the discovery of water, time and the monument. In this very building, a world ludo interactive features to prompt children to travel in the past, to tame the water, searching for traces of the past and observe nature. Unfortunately the vast museum portion (2,500 square meters of exhibition) on the history of the aqueduct, complement previous approaches, has been delayed and will only open a few months. Similarly for the documentation center and 22 acres of landscaped grounds designed to explore the evolution of the Mediterranean landscape.
